What’s LMIA?
Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is a document that employers in Canada may need to get before hiring a foreign worker. A positive LMIA will show that there is a need for a foreign worker to fill the job. It will also show that no Canadian worker is available to do the job. A positive LMIA is sometimes called a confirmation letter. LMIA is valid for six months. LMIA (NOC O-O, A, B) can be utilized in Express Entry or PNP to improve your score for PR invitation.
- To assess impact on labour market employers need to publish vacancies and conduct interviews which are very costly.
- LMIA is valid for six months
- LMIA can be dual or single intent
Only qualified employers can apply for LMIA
