A new report was released on Monday by the UK government. It states that the government will double the post-study visa for students. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, there has been 50-70 percent of the drop in international students.
The report named – Universities to Open World – How to put the bounce back in Global Britain by Johnson. It was prepared for the Policy Institute at King’s College London and Harvard Kennedy School.
Since the last decade, the UK government has been implementing different strategies. With these strategies, the aim was to boost up the international student export and at the same time maintain their students. Because of these strategies, there has been volatile and unstable environment. In the past 1 years, if we reflect upon, UK has lost international student education market.
In 2019, the UK introduced a two-year post-study visa that allows students to work or find a job for 2 years right after graduating. The graduates from the UK will be entitled to the 4-year post-study visa.
For Indian students, it would be a total game-changer said J Johnson, younger brother of UK Prime Minster Borris Johnson. With the current rules, UK is all set to open the new “Graduate” route for 2020-2021 intakes to UK Universities.
